Previously Veil Private Messenger. Because of trademark issues with the name Veil, we've rebranded to Vardum ahead of our independent audit. Same app, same team, same encryption.

$1,000 public challenge

Encrypt This.

100 ciphertexts from the production app. Every parameter except the private keys is published. $1,000 to the first person who decrypts one.

The rules

  • The first person or team to correctly reveal the plaintext of any one ciphertext and explain how wins $1,000 (one prize, not per ciphertext).
  • Send the ciphertext index, the recovered plaintext and the method to support@tryveil.app.
  • We verify against the published SHA-256 hash and respond within 72 hours.
  • The winner agrees to public disclosure of the method.
  • Fair play only: attacking our servers, social engineering or phishing doesn't count. Only a cryptographic break does.

Terms

The prize: $1,000, paid by bank transfer or PayPal within 30 days of verification. No purchase necessary.

The window: the challenge runs until a valid break or 90 days from launch (21 September 2026), whichever comes first.

The ciphertexts: all 100 records: index, IV, public keys, plaintext length, plaintext SHA-256 and the ciphertext itself. Everything except the private keys.

Honesty block

Production protocol: veil-ratchet-4, hybrid ML-KEM-768 + ECDH P-256, HKDF-SHA256, AES-GCM-256. The ciphertexts were made by the production app's own code, with random keys and test plaintexts. The cryptography is self-reviewed; an independent audit is planned for early 2027. This challenge is an invitation to try, not a proof of security.
